The PMC does not have classes scheduled for 2007. If you are looking for advice with meal preparation or want cooking lessons, we can recommend several excellent resources. Individual private health evaluation and personal nutritional guidance is available.

Try Dr. Silverstein's great new DVD on cooking, newly released this year. To order the DVD or ask for more information about other resources, call the Preventive Medicine Center at 549-3444 or 800-789-7738.

Take a look at our Media page, which provides audio-visual materials.

Overview of the PMC sponsored cooking classes: The style of cooking is macrobiotic, and this term comes from Greek (“macro” meaning “large” or “long”, and “bios” meaning “life”). Macrobiotics was first coined by Hippocrates, the father of Western medicine. By using macrobiotic principles to address and adjust environmental, dietary and lifestyle influences, people have been able to prolong their lives by recovering from a wide range of illnesses including heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.

At our cooking classes, watch the teacher create the meals, learn about the foods, and discuss how you can easily prepare these dishes. The class concludes with fine dining of the prepared meal.
